It is easy to feel overwhelmed with everything we need to do in a day. Panic can set in and you sense that you can’t handle it all. You can easily do any or all of these four tips for a quick fix.
Wherever you are, whether in the office, or standing in front of a sink full of dirty dishes, you can take these simple steps to settle your mind when life gets hectic.
Do a Body Scan
Start by focusing your attention on your toes, and slowly work your way up to the top of your head. Notice any spots of tension you might have and just allow them to soften and relax.
Breathe in and stretch if you need to. A five minute yoga pause is all you need.
Anchor Your Attention to Your Breath
Anchoring is connecting your attention to something in the present moment, like the sounds around you or feelings in your body. Or in this case, your breath.
Bring your gentle attention to your breathing as you inhale and exhale. Breathe naturally, and if your mind wanders, just bring your focus right back to your breath.
Get Into Nature
Sometimes we get a little too cooped up for our own good, so head outside and get some fresh air into your body. If you can find a nice natural setting, all the better! Take a walk and breath.
There’s just something about walking that soothes the busy mind!
